The annual BP Business Challenge introduces Year 11 students to the basics of developing a business based on a new product. Over three days, working in teams, the students develop plans considering operations, sales, marketing, and finance, under the guidance of facilitators from the Young Enterprise Trust.
On the third day, the students present their plans to invited experts, and a wining enterprise is chosen.
Head of Business Emma O'Riordan says all of the product ideas were technology-based and practical. The standard of the students' presentation skills was very high, and manyof the ideas could be successfully taken to market now, including a see-through toaster.
Deputy Principal Phil Muir, who was on the judging panel this year, said students were clearly motivated and inspired, and produced brilliant business ideas.
The winning product was Transl8, an app that provides language translation services.
