Our annual REWAlise your PASSION event began today. Event co-ordinator Craig Render provides some background on the project, which is huge in both its organisation and the inspirational outcomes.
There are 150 staff and 850 students participating in 41 events over the next three days. Some students are off to Whangamata to learn to surf. Other activities include yoga, reading, film making, sports, hip hop, snowboarding, computer games, helping the elderly and mural painting.
Why do we do it?
REWAlise your PASSION provides alternative learning experiences for our students. It helps to build behaviours that support our school values of Respect, Excellence,Whanaungatanga and Akoranga. It also gives the teachers the chance to share their passions with the students.

Who decides on the learning experiences?
Teachers choose activities that help them to share their passions in life, and students choose to participate in those that appeal. The range of activities is only limited by the teachers' imagination.
This is now in its second year. What sort of feedback do you get?
There is a great vibe around the school - a hum of activity and engagement and fun. The feedback from the staff and students is great.
