Over 100 students, whanau and staff packed the hall for our third annual Senior Maori Achievement Dinner on Wednesday 30th July.  Dr Lance O'Sullivan, the 2014 New Zealander of the Year, was our entertaining and inspirational guest speaker.

The Senior Maori Achievement Dinner is an initiative set up to raise Maori student achievement within the school. The kaupapa of the night is to celebrate the achievements of our Senior Maori students so far in the year and inspire and encourage them to continue in being successful throughout the second part of the year and beyond. And to encourage them to see the year through to our Maori Celebration where we celebrate again with our Junior students.

The night is about bringing students together with their whanau and staff to share and enjoy a special meal prepared by our talented hospitality students, with musical entertainment provided by our Maori students.

Students who performed this year were:
Tequilla Moses 10AVL
Nesian 7
Tysha Noble 12TRS
Cam Dawson 10AVL and Freedom Nathan 12KGU did a duet
Michaela Clark 13PLN

Our wonderful student MC’s – Trevina Graham and Ezra Griffiths both of 13ACK - took on the challenge of keeping the night in order and speaking in both Te Reo and English throughout the night.

Thank you to all who supported the event.  Tim Randle and Shannon Coulomb for the musical entertainment, Mrs Chandra and the HAC students for our amazing food, Miss Rolleston for sorting out the certificates, Miss Stone for general organisation of the night and helping the student MCs – Te Manu Aute for supporting and helping put on the evening.
