Attendance
Duis aute irure dolor in reprehenderit in voluptate

The New Zealand Ministry of Education has implemented a strict attendance action plan to raise regular attendance to 80% by 2030, following a drop to 40% in 2022. Key initiatives for 2025-2026 include mandatory attendance management plans (AMPs) for all schools, $123 million for frontline services, and specialized support for 170 schools to tackle chronic absenteeism.

Manurewa High School has been selected to participate in the Attendance Service In-School Provision (ISP) initiative, introduced in October 2025, which enables our school to deliver targeted, in-school support for students experiencing chronic absence.

ISP increases a school’s capacity to intervene early so that less complex attendance barriers are addressed before issues become entrenched or require additional support from an external Attendance Service Provider (ASP).

To assist us with this initiative and in keeping accurate attendance records we ask that whaanau please notify the school as soon as possible if your child will be absent. Letting us know promptly helps us ensure the safety and care of our rangatahi and enables our team to provide timely support when needed, for the wellbeing of all our students. Your cooperation is vital and we ask that you follow the process below to report an absence from school.
