The scholarship is an international award sponsored by the British Council, the Ministry of Education, the New Zealand Teachers Council and the NZ-UK Link Foundation. It is awarded to four teachers throughout New Zealand who identify themselves as emerging leaders.
The aim of the scholarship is to recognise and promote effective teaching by providing international experience for teachers early in their careers. The scholarship theme for 2012 is professional leadership.
Miss McCall will travel to Wales for two weeks in October, where she will link up with Welsh teachers and principals, develop her leadership potential, reflect on teaching practice, and examine language immersion settings in Welsh schools. Her travel, accommodation and general living expenses, including interview and selection costs will be met by the scholarship sponsors.
