Your culture, our community.
Nau mai, haere mai ki too taatou kura
Welcome
Manurewa High School is one of the largest multicultural schools in New Zealand, with over 2000 students representing more than 50 nationalities, a true reflection of Auckland. This has great benefits in preparing our students for the future – a world in which multicultural connections and cultural understanding will create many opportunities for success.
At Manurewa High School we have a vision: Piki atu ki te rangi (Aim High, Strive for Excellence), and a mission to grow a community of learners to ‘Be the Manurewa Way’ by living our values of Respect, Excellence, Whanaungatanga and Akoranga. We are strongly led by these values; they guide how we work together as a school community and have a powerful impact on achievement. We want our students to be happy, confident, and proud.
While students are fully prepared for the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA), Manurewa High School is committed to providing a balanced education by encouraging academic, cultural and sporting excellence. International students find their experience of the school to be academically challenging, culturally rewarding and socially enriching.
Student motivation is strong, through the hard work and dedication of a caring and professional staff. We work closely with international students to help them achieve their best to step positively into their futures as lifelong learners and confident, connected, and responsible citizens.
Manurewa High School welcomes applications from international students who wish to live with a parent or designated caregiver (family or close family friend) already living in our community. Please note that Manurewa High School does not arrange homestay accommodation.
The National Certificate of Educational Achievement is New Zealand’s national qualification at secondary school level. Follow this link to learn more about it :https://www2.nzqa.govt.nz/about-us/publications/nzqa-resources-and-videos/english/
Manurewa High School provides a well structured, highly regarded, orientation and language support programme for English Language Learning students from non-English-speaking backgrounds. We have Reception classes for students who require an intensive English Language Learning course. Students are mainstreamed when they are ready and we tailor programmes to suit their individual needs.

Director of International Students oversees all pastoral care matters. Interntional students meet regularly with the Director and there is frequent contact and visits conducted with Designated Caregivers. The school also has an extended guidance counselling network. The welfare of our international students is our first priority.
A wide range of sports are played, and overseas students often participate in table tennis, badminton, tennis and other sports. A number of internationally recognised sports people have attended the school since it was opened in 1960. Students may learn a variety of musical instruments. The school concert band and choir perform regularly, and musicals and stage productions are presented each year. Activities are arranged for international students and students have the opportunity to share their own culture with other students during International Week.
